Mickey Mouse is a humorous cartoon character representing an anthropomorphic animal and serves as the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company. Created in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks at Disney’s studio, he is portrayed as a mouse dressed typically in red shorts, large yellow shoes, and white gloves. Over the years, Mickey has become one of the most iconic and recognizable characters globally.
His first appearance was in a test screening short titled *Plane Crazy*. His official debut occurred in the groundbreaking sound cartoon *Steamboat Willie* (1928). Since then, Mickey has featured in more than 130 films, including classics like *The Band Concert* (1935), *Brave Little Tailor* (1938), and *Fantasia* (1940). Although mainly known for his short films, Mickey has also appeared in occasional feature-length movies.
Throughout his animated career, ten of Mickey’s cartoons received nominations for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, with *Lend a Paw* winning the award in 1942. In 1978, Mickey Mouse made history by becoming the first cartoon character to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
